FINAL FANTASY IV
PINKPUFF PROJECT #581 CREATED: AUGUST 2017 "Let's dance!" The PinkPuffs were among the most frustrating and elusive monsters that Cecil Harvey and crew would ever come across. They lived on the Moon, but appeared very infrequently, inhabiting only a single cavern of the Lunar Subterrane. They would travel in packs of five, appearing during combat only to quickly dominate the battle. "Let's dance!" they would proclaim, just in time for a decidedly non-combat theme to begin playing. The music seemed to have a hypnotic effect on Cecil and his party, effectively casting Bersk upon them and preventing them from making combat decisions. Occasionally, some of the party members could escape the PinkPuffs' control, but as soon as a new song began, they could be hypnotized all over again. PinkPuffs could even use the Charm spell to confuse the party even more, if the fight lasted that long. The battle ended only when Cecil and his friends were defeated, or every last PinkPuff was destroyed. The PinkPuffs occasionally left behind an Elixir potion or an Ether2, but that's not what made them special. The rarest and most precious item was one of their very own tails; to secure possession of a PinkTail meant that you could trade it to the tail collector of Adamant Grotto for the valuable Adamant armor, the most powerful such equipment in the game. (In the PlayStation Portable remake of Final Fantasy IV, the PinkPuff was renamed Flan Princess, which is closer to the original Japanese name for the creature.) You could spend hours in the game hunting for PinkPuffs without success. They only appeared in a very specific cavern in the Lunar Subterrane, and they had something like a 1:64 chance of actually spawning. You've already spent more time reading about this toy that I painted than the amount of time that you'll ever see one of these guys in the wild. |
