FINAL FANTASY IV
BLUE D. PROJECT #614 CREATED: SEPTEMBER 2018 Blue Dragons were among the ancient and dangerous beings who dwelled within the subterranean caverns deep inside the Moon. Similar in stature and strength to its close cousin, the Red Dragon (with whom they sometimes traveled), the Blue Dragon was different in that it was highly resistant to many magical attacks. For example, the holy spell of White, which was one of White Wizard Rosa's most powerful attacks, actually helped the Blue Dragon rather than harming it. Blue Dragons could also emit a frosty Blizzard blast from its mouth, doing terrible elemental damage to an entire group of adventurers simultaneously. It was one of the most challenging and difficult enemies for Cecil and company to face, during a stage in their mission where every encounter with the next dangerous foe could mean the difference between victory and defeat. (This monster's name was truncated as Blue D. until the Game Boy Advance remake of Final Fantasy IV, in which it was actually named Blue Dragon. Seems like "BlueDrgn" would have worked just as well.) As with the Red D., I used progressively lighter shades of paint, drybrushed over top each other, for this project. Oddly enough, I had an issue with the left wing on this dragon, and only the left wing, which melted slightly from baking in the oven. Neither of my other two dragons had this problem at all. I suppose you could justify it by saying that Rydia has already cast Fire-3 against this beast, having melted his icy wing slightly. So, I guess he's partially damaged as a result of that. |
