STAR WARS EPISODE V: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK
BOBA FETT (LEGO) PROJECT #81 CREATED: 2000 "What if he doesn't survive? He's worth a lot to me." Shortly following my work on creating a C-3PO figure out of LEGO parts, I started working on Boba Fett, another unreleased character in this format at the time. The project was hindered by a lack of decent LEGO parts, and I eventually put him away and moved onto other things. It wasn't until a buddy of mine told me they were actually coming out with an official Boba Fett that I was provided with the impetus needed to finish my version. I had been planning to create Boba Fett out of existing LEGO parts only, but I ended up cheating and used a Power Rangers accessory for his backpack. The chest armor and helmet were from a LEGO samurai figure, while the cape, and Wookiee braids, were made from a LEGO flag. At the time I created this project, official LEGO figures didn't have paint applications on their arms and legs, but I went ahead and did it anyway, which allowed me to add detail that would have otherwise been impossible—the armor on his forearms, his knee pads, and his boots. Years later, LEGO came out with a second official Boba Fett figure, one with a lot more detail.. and looked a lot like mine! |
