FINAL FANTASY IV
CONJURER PROJECT #655 CREATED: SEPTEMBER 2020 The Conjurer was a powerful magic user who dwelled within the Land of Summoned Monsters. So potent and influential was his sorcery that he could bring into existence another creature, such as a RockMoth or Arachne, to do his bidding. Cecil Harvey and his traveling companions quickly found that when they encountered a Conjurer, they were doing battle not just with him, but with every new monster he seemingly generated out of thin air. He made no effort, however, to send the bird into battle which perpetually rested upon his shoulders. (In the Game Boy Advance remake of Final Fantasy IV, the Conjurer was renamed Summoner, perhaps a more accurate description of his abilities.) The Conjurer (as well as the Marion and the Sorcerer, who all share the same game sprite design) had a fat, bulbous body, goofy eyeballs, and skinny arms. When searching for an action figure to turn into this character, I kept coming back to Dr. Teeth from the Muppets, with his similar body construction. The action figure line by Palisades is highly collectible, so it was very difficult for me to find three Dr. Teeth figures at a decent price. I shorted his legs, modified the shoes, brought his arms together so he could clutch his walking stick. I replaced the head entirely, using a Ninja Turtles toy named Scumbug, connecting it to the front of the body rather than the top. To attach the bird to his back (which was originally a Secret Life of Pets character named Tiberius), I added a neodymium magnet to the Conjurer figure and stuck some sections of paper clip inside the bird's feet so they would stick to the magnet. |
