FINAL FANTASY IV
CPU (WITH ATTACKER AND DEFENDER) PROJECT #591 CREATED: DECEMBER 2017 The CPU was the central computer regulating the functions of the massive Giant of Bab-il. After the weaponized machine was activated, primed to destroy everything in its path, Cecil Harvey and his companions entered the tremendous Giant with the intent of stopping its orgy of destruction. After journeying through the body of the mechanical construct, they reached the central core where the CPU awaited them. The CPU, a large computerized floating sphere, was protected by a smaller Attacker and Defender module, each with specialized functions. The Attacker module assaulted any threats to the CPU, using a powerful Maser weapon. The Defender, meanwhile, repaired any damages to the Attacker. Any attempt to destroy both the smaller modules triggered a reaction from the CPU itself, running a program called Globe199 which resulted in the instantaneous death of party members. Suffice to say, this method of attack was not a viable strategy. The CPU also used the technological equivalent of the magic spell Wall, preventing direct magical attacks from reaching it. I made the CPU from a hollow plastic capsule (a Surprizamals brand plush toy was sold in it). I sanded down the surface so that paint would adhere to it readily. To create the tiny dots on its surface, I punctured the capsule with sewing pins (the inside of the capsule is now a porcupine's worst nightmare). I painted it black and then spray painted the underside a dark blue to try and match the colors of the game sprite. I used a Star Wars action figure stand to support it, which had some nice technological-looking styling. The identical Attacker and Defender modules were made from pieces of a toy wrecking ball vehicle. I used the same figure stands to support them as well, to create the illusion that they were floating in mid-air. |
