FINAL FANTASY IV
FLAMEMAN PROJECT #637 CREATED: SEPTEMBER 2019 The FlameMan was a specialized warrior, trained in the art of superheated combat. His shield was ceramic-plated and resistant to heat. His suit of armor was likewise forged to withstand even the highest temperatures. His blade itself could inflict the power of fire with each red-hot sword strike. The FlameMan was fire incarnate, and was particularly incendiary when paired with the living canine pyre, the FlameDog. Stationed at the Tower of Bab-il, the FlameMan was a force to be reckoned with. Heat-based magic only served to fuel his fiery rage. His greatest strength, however, was also his biggest weakness. Cecil and Kain quickly realized donning their ice-based weapons and armor were their best bet, and ice-based magic also served to stop the FlameMan cold. (In the Game Boy Advance edition of Final Fantasy IV, the FlameMan was renamed Fiery Knight.) My FlameMan project is made from a King Arthur action figure from the King Arthur and the Knights of Justice toy line. His helmet and shield came from the WWE "Create-A-Superstar" Knight Pack (sort of Mattel's answer to Hasbro's Hero Mashers toy line). The cape came from Loki from the Marvel Legends toy line. I modified the toy to get rid of the embossed sword symbol on his chest, and I rebuilt the position of his arms as well. Drybrushing silver on his armor gave the impression he'd taken a little bit of battle damage. The original figure had an action gimmick wherein his sword arm would slash when you pressed a button on his back; the Loki cape just happened to line up really nicely with the existing button, so I left it intact. |
