FINAL FANTASY IV
WEEPER PROJECT #670 CREATED: JULY 2022 The sounds of the eternally-tormented Weeper could be heard long before she made her ghostly presence known. Her intensely lonely sobbing echoed unforgivingly throughout any caverns in which she was found. Cecil Harvey and his traveling companions would encounter the Weeper within the Antlion Cave as well as during their attempts to defend the walls of Fabul Castle—and each time, it seemed, she was even more forlorn than the last. Only a swift, precise sword strike could end her everlasting misery. (In later remakes of Final Fantasy IV, the Weeper was renamed Leshy, named after a mythological forest demon in Slavic mythology.) To build the Weeper (as well as the Grudger and Screamer, who all share a monster design) I used the Shriek toy from Marvel Legends, replacing the head and hair with those from White Rabbit. For the lower half, I used the Red Jafar genie from the Funko Pop series. I knew the paint would fleck off if I tried to pose her, so I used super glue to fuse the elbow and wrist joints, but I kept the rotational shoulder movement. I used my airbrush to create a color gradient from her genie parts to her humanoid parts. |
