FINAL FANTASY IV
REVENANT PROJECT #633 CREATED: AUGUST 2019 While most adventurers who were mortally wounded in battle were fortunate enough to die afterwards, not all were quite as lucky. On occasion, the buried remains of travelers were exhumed and resurrected by unholy forces, brought back as undead monsters. Revenants were powerful, dangerous, highly resistant to conventional attack. Roaming the precipices of Mt. Ordeals, and often traveling with Ghouls and Zombies, they were compelled to attack travelers, tearing them apart with their bare hands and ravenously consuming their bodies afterwards. Cecil Harvey and his companions quickly discovered that curative magic was the most effective means of dispatching them. It was ironic that the magic intended to preserve and prolong life was their best weapon against unliving creatures such as these. I created my Revenant action figure (as well as the Ghoul and Zombie and Ghast) out of a Frankenstein's Monster toy from the Scooby-Doo assortment by Charter, Ltd. It had the right height and awkward stance, but I had to make lots of cosmetic changes. I adjusted the position of the hands, carved out the shape of the mouth and eye sockets, and added some hair using thin strands of rubbery plastic. I also made some structural changes to add the visible musculature on the torso as well as the appearance of ripped and torn clothing. (I interpreted the single orange pixels on the shoes as holes in the material.) Note that the Revenant game sprite was initially recycled and mistakenly reused for the Ghast, which was intended to be a separate and distinct enemy in Final Fantasy IV. |
